- THE SCRIPTURES
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments alone as verbally, plenarily inspired of God, without error in the original writings and that they are our only authority in faith and practice (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
- THE GODHEAD
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – yet one in substance and equal in every divine perfection (John 14:7-12,26; John 16:7; Matthew 28:19).
- JESUS CHRIST
- We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man (Matthew 1:18-20; John 1:1,2,14).
- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary sacrifice and that all who receive Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood (1 Corinthians 15:3,4; 2Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:21-26).
- We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His bodily ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Intercessor (Matthew 28:5,6; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 7:25,26).
- We believe in “that blessed hope” – the personal, visible, pre-tribulational, premillennial and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ (l John 3:2,3; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-53; Titus 2:13).
- HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit who is the third Person of the Trinity. We believe that among His ministries are included the following: the restraining of evil in the world to the measure of the divine will; the convicting of the world regarding sin, righteousness, and judgment; the regeneration of all believers; the indwelling of all who are saved, and the continued filling for power, teaching and service of all among the saved who are yielded to Him (John 3:6; John 16:7-11; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18; 2 Thessalonians 2:7; l John 2:20-27).
- SALVATION
- We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are sinners in thought, word, and deed (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-6).
- We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to men by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins. Salvation is solely through faith in that shed blood and is not earned by any good works whatsoever. All those who so believe are regenerated and become Sons of God (Ephesians 2:8,9; John 1:12; John 3:5-7).
- We believe that the elect of God, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are secure in Christ forever (John 10:27-30; Romans 8:31-39).
- SANCTIFICATION
We believe sanctification is in three tenses; every saved person has been sanctified through the death of Christ, is being sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and will be sanctified completely when he goes to be with Christ. Every believer has two natures, an old and a new, and the old cannot be eradicated during this life (Hebrews 10:10; John 17:17; Ephesians 5:23-27).
- SEPARATION
We believe in the Biblical doctrine of separation which encompasses three things: (1) the separation of the local church from all affiliation and, fellowship with those who deny the verities of the “faith once delivered to the saints”; (2) the separation of the individual believer from all worldly practices that would dishonour the Saviour; and (3) the separation of church and state (2 Timothy 3:1-5; Romans 12:1,2; Romans 14:13; l John 2:15-17; 2 John 1:9-11; 2Corinthians 6:14-7:1).
- THE CHURCH
We believe that a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, immersed on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that the local church is the center of God’s programme for this age, and that every Christian is bound by Scripture to give his unhindered cooperation to the programme of his local church (Matthew 16:16-18; 1 Corinthians 12:12-17; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Timothy 3:15,16).
- THE ORDINANCES
We believe that there are two church ordinances – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water and is properly called “believer’s baptism”. It sets forth in a beautiful and solemn way our identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection – to walk in “newness of life”. Baptism is a prerequisite to church membership. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes and of our continual fellowship with Him, and should be preceded by careful self-examination (Acts 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; l Corinthians 11:23-32).
- THE GREAT COMMISSION
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has commissioned the Church to take the gospel to the world, and that evangelism at home and abroad should be primary in the programme of the local church (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 1:8).
- LAST THINGS
We believe in the imminent return of Christ to take away those that are in Christ. Following this shall be a period of tribulation upon all the earth. At the end of this time of tribulation Jesus Christ shall come back to earth in power and glory with His saints, to establish the promised Davidic kingdom. He shall reign for one thousand years, during which time peace and righteousness will cover the earth, Satan shall be bound, and Israel shall be established in her own land. At the end of this glorious reign, Satan shall lead a rebellion against Christ, but shall be forever banished to the lake of fire. The wicked dead shall be judged at the great white throne, and shall be condemned to everlasting conscious punishment in hell. The righteous shall enjoy the eternal conscious blessedness of presence with the Lord (John 14:3; Matthew 24:21; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 1:1-15; Ezekiel 39:25-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:17).
